What I find neat is that the Vincent appears to have been ridden there and not trailered.
I have always had a soft spot for anything Vincent.

Thanks for the pics

I was standing there when the elderly gent drove it in and parked it. A judge came by and wiped the mud off the tire for him. Cool.

Too cool, I should have come up and hobbled around. Plus, I could have got a pork chop dinner.

Posted this after last years Dan Emmett Fest in Mt Vernon. It's next weekend.

And the pork chops really are "bring your own knife and fork" good.

Edit: just noticed it's under "Vintage Bikes" and probably belongs somewhere else. events maybe?

Default My Dads Vintage Vintage pictures of his Daytona bikes and others.

Here are a few pictures and stats of my late father Al Shaffer. He was an old motorcycle/midget/hydroplane racer and pilot from Central Ohio. I have started to compile his motorcycle race records in an attempt to get him nominated into the AMA Hall of Fame. If you know of any resources I could search or if any of you ever knew him or knew of him please let me know, and history would be great. I have included his Daytona records as taken from the Daytona 200 Record book by Don Emde.

I have also included a couple pictures of the 1947 $10,000.00 Offy midget he had built and the Byers Hydroplane he set two records in. I know they are not MC but thought you would enjoy the speed.

Again any help even with the bike models would be awesome

I am also looking to find an old vintage bike to rebuild if you know of any.

Alvin (Al) Shaffer 1913-1984

His famous quote to me growing up was "Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go" and "The first half of my life I tried to see how fast I could go, in the second I'm trying to see how slow I can go"
