Default Honda ST1100/GL1500 Final Drive Swap?

Is this possible? If so, how compatible are the hard parts? Do I need to manufacture spacers and whatnots, or is it a "drop 'n go" swap?

Am I being completely derptacular, or do I remember hearing about this?

Guys that wanted to go darkside swapped a gl 1500 rear something for the counterpart on their CB 1100s.

Pat..SIrepair on this forum has performed that swap. Try emailing or pm ing him.

Got Pauly's PM:
The GL1500 and ST1100 use basically the same final drive, but the housings are different. THIS THREAD on ST-Riders.net goes in to more detail. You may need to be a member to see the thread.

If you have an ST1100, you will want to join this site, as there is 20 years of knowledge, and very knowledgeable riders on the site. Their "Archives Of Wisdom" are very helpful.

The Darkside change requires a GL1500 wheel, and a set of spacers to change the wheel's center line, as it differs from the ST1100, and a modified caliper hanger. There are no known car tars that fit the ST1100 17" stock rear wheel, hence the change.

Hope this helps!
