Default New to Ohio Backroads... Proposed Route?

Hello all.. new to the forum and new to the backroads of ohio, but not multi-segment rides.

A few couples had planned on riding through the weekend... C-bus to Pittsburgh to Erie & Back.... but, the weather isn't cooperating with Plan A. We've got a couple of new riders with us, one who hasn't done more than 120 miles in a day before and has very little bad weather experience. It is a vacation weekend and there's no point in stressing anyone out... especially on two wheels.

We're now planning on riding all day Friday, the one day the weather looks solid.

So, now that you have the back story, here is the route we're am looking at:

Loudonville to Gambler
Gambier to New Concord
New Concord to Senecaville
Senecaville to Woodsfield
Woodsfield to Cadiz
Cadiz to Carrollton
Carrollton to Uhrichsville
Uhrichsville to Millersburg
Millersburg to Loudonville

Anyone know any reason why that might not work? Bad roads? Bad towns? Unreasonable Construction issues?

THANKS!

-Rob

Welcome...Looks like a great ride for this weekend.. The only roads in your route that I have riden this year would be 36, 39, and 3 and all three of those was fine. Just lead your group based on the least experience rider..are you doing all this in one day or are you spreading it out over the weekend??? Have a great time and safe journey..

Thanks, man.

The plan is one long day with plenty of stops... but, there are bail out points where we can shorten the trip for any reason if need be.

(Go from Senecaville to Cadiz or from Cadiz straight to Urichsville, for example).

Next question: Any good spots for food along the Woodsfield, Cadiz, Carrolton leg ??

Fri will be a better day for least amount of traffic, especially for the Uhrichsville to Millersburg portion. Be on the lookout for erratic garage salers and tourists in and around Walnut Creek/Berlin/SugarCreek this weekend.

SR36 between Gambier(308) and Warsaw has been seeing some road construction as they are patching the road. The road is still very rough but doable. A better alt route would be sr229 to Nellie then 36 or even better in Nellie take sr79s to sr541e

Sorry for the very late reply, but thought I would add to this for anyone looking to do a similar route in the future. As far as eats go in Woodsfield, both the Hometown Restaurant and Traditons (both on South Main Street) are good. Hometown has a good breakfast menu with a small town diner atmosphere. Traditions has a good variety from steak to grilled cheese.

In Senecaville, you can go to the Marina Restaurant at Seneca Lake. Nice restaurant overlooking the docks in the marina.

Also, a +1 on Hog Heaven, even though it is just a little off of that route. Great BBQ joint with some unique features.
