Found a young man to assist and made him show me several helmets while telling me everything about them EXCEPT the price. He liked the game and led me through many different brands and price ranges. At the end of the time, I told him my two favorites... THEN he dropped the price bomb on me.

I was so taken aback I told him thanks and left the store, checked in at the RTE and then headed home. This morning I visited a local shop and purchased an ARAI helmet. Very light, great fit, quiet, etc... I don't plan on ever buying another helmet. On this summer's trip I'll probably leave my credit cards and cash on my bike seat and take my helmet with me inside to eat, as it is the most valuable thing I own now.

Cool, which model of Arai?

So how did you lithe ST on a 3 hour ride?

Unfortunately, the Signet Q (I found out my head is oval

LOVED the performance of the ST !! Despite the long SLAB home, my behind had no idea I'd done that many miles. However, my neck issues are no better, so I need to figure out what to do about the bulging disks in my neck. Not sure anything can be done, but by the time I'm at 200 miles my neck and shoulders are on fire.

I had same issues at first... figured it out.. get your butt up closer to the tank. put the seat all the way down on last notch. put down windshield and let the wind hold you back. I can get 5 hrs a shot with out issues.

Holy Head Orgasm, Bat Man!

Got the new helmet today and rode 30 miles with it... wow, you really do get what you pay for. Honestly, without a severance check to spend, there is NO WAY I would ever have spent that kind of money on a helmet. But, now I'm hooked...

First, there really aren't any bad spots. Second, the venting is absolutely money. I wear the helmet no matter what the temp is, and I'm sure I'll be MUCH cooler with the Arai than the HJC I was wearing. Even little things like turning my head to check the next lane before I move over - no annoying strain or rub on my neck, just a smooth look. And, it's so light I hardly notice it.

I'm already starting a trust fund to buy the next one in 5 years, as I'll be on a retirement income by then

I know this is an old thread, but I finally replaced my black CL-16 full face HJC helmet.... with an identical one, albeit one size smaller (I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and never got around to buying a smaller helmet....duh)

The old helmet was 5 riding seasons old and the shell liner was getting pretty bad. Luckily, I was able to transfer the headset and mic over to the new helmet w/o any problems, saving me about $150 in the process.

Maybe I'm just becoming more sentimental as I grown older, but I actually found myself reflecting on all of the trips and places I had been with that helmet.... a little over 40,000 miles....and every state shown in my little map.

Oh well, here's to another 5 years and 50,000 more miles with the new one.

Default Need half helmet recommendations

I'm looking to pick up a half helmet and up till now I've had a open face helmet. What brands are good? What should I look for or avoid? I don't want too bulky but I'd like it to be DOT approved? I liked the style of bell rogue but I've seen good and bad on it thanks
