Default West Virginia Trip

Back in mid October, the wife and I took a long weekend trip to West Virginia. It was a great trip! We were trying to get a weekend with nice weather and after watching for a month, we were finally able to go. I know, fair weather riders. Fortunately we both can take a day here and there without having to schedule it too far in advance. Why not take advantage of it and go when the weather is cooperating.

Well, anyway, we left on a Saturday morning with the temps in the 40's so with the SO wearing thick gloves, we didn't get any pics till it warmed up a little. Our first stop was at Kanawha Falls on Rt 60. Little roadside park allows you to stop and check out the falls.

Our next stop was Gauley Bridge which was just a little ways past Kanawha Falls.

A little further up we passed this unusual place. While we didn't stop, some friends of ours said they thought it was neat place to visit.

When we arrived at Hawks Nest, there were people everywhere. Turns out a wedding was taking place. Fortunately that was across the street from the overlook.

One thing I really liked about this trip was the constant things to see and do.

Our next stop was at the New River Gorge Bridge. Pretty impressive, but the pic doesn't really do it justice.

Following the road below the bridge leads to this little guy - Tunney Hunsaker Bridge.

That pretty much concluded our Saturday. We headed down 19 into Fayetteville to our hotel. We stayed at Quality Inn, which was decent for the price. I would stay there again if in the area.

To be continued...

I'm going to this bridge next summer, looking at these pics makes it harder to wait.
