Default Finally got fed up and did something about my seat!

I have been struggling with my seat for a long time now.

I was pretty happy with my stock seat, but it got a tear in it maybe 4 or 5 years ago.

Yahoo found me a new seat, but it was from a 650 and the seat is a bit lower than the 1000. I was never able to be comfortable on it, so I kept using my original seat and then a couple years ago put a pad on it made for a four wheeler.

Now that pad just seems to be uncomfortable also, and I am just too cheap to spend the money for a new seat, so I decided to tear apart the 650 seat and make it comfortable.

It really was not too bad! I stuffed about a inch and a half of foam underneath the rider portion of the seat, then I cut off the hump separating the driver from passenger side. Then using a technique similar to whittling I smoothed the transition from driver to passenger.

I was able to get the original cover back on the seat, but it was a little bit difficult and took a little fiddling to get it over the new shape. I used a regular staple gun to attach it, but I don't feel too good about that, so I am going to go to Harbor Freight and get a air stapler that uses a bit larger staple to make it a bit more secure, but for now it seems fine.

I can't say it is pretty, but it does not look too bad. I rode it today for the first time and the comfort difference is spectacular. It actually felt strange to be so perfectly comfortable. I can honestly say this has made my bike just about the most comfortable bike I have ever sat on. So far the Victory Vision is the most comfortable bike I have ever sat on, but for now I think I have finally solved my problem.

The cost is minimal to do this. I bought way more stuff than needed because I was not sure where this was headed. I got glue, black vinyl, and foam and have around $40 invested in that. I have enough foam left that I could probably do this same mod to 20 more seats and enough vinyl that I could make 4 covers and I never even used the glue.

To put the icing on the cake I just ordered one of those Alaska Leather seat pads. I have wanted one of those pretty much forever and just decided this morning to finally get one after feeling so good about todays ride. I am hoping that will help with the monkey butt in the heat.

Yahoo ? .

I've been called worse.

A few years ago I found a nearly new Terry Adcox seat for the Strom that a local guy was selling. It's a vast improvement over stock, even with the Airhawk R pad i was using.

I can ride it all day now w/o using a pad.

I have always heard they really help in hot weather. How much does your ass sweat? Because if your ass does not sweat much maybe that is why it does not help.

My ass stays dry soft and supple, uh thanks for asking (maybe Johnny is right after all). Sounds like you could use some Monkey Butt Powder or just ride naked.

I always powder up in the heat. I have even sprayed my ass with anti perspirant. When it is really hot it helps. I also keep diaper rash ointment with me in hot weather for once it has all gone bad.
